2 Grouse, skinned and boned

4 large potatoes

1 ½ cups of sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

3 cups milk

1/3 cup flour

1/3 cup butter

2 tablespoons butter

1 small onion, chopped

2 teaspoons dried parsley

½ teaspoon garlic powder

¼ teaspoon onion powder

¼ - ½ teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon pepper

 

Grouse and Potatoes Recipe Directions

Preheat Oven.

Cube grouse.
Brown grouse in 2 tablespoons butter.
Set aside.
In skillet, cook onion in 1/3 cup of butter until tender.
Stir in flour to make a paste.
Add salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder.
Add milk, stir with a wire whip to prevent lumps.
Cook mixture until thickened.
Stir in 1 cup of the cheese.
Stir until smooth.
Peel and thinly slice the potatoes.
Put the potatoes in bottom of 2 quart casserole dish.
Put grouse on top of potatoes, sprinkle with parsley.
Pour cheese sauce over grouse and potatoes.
Bake grouse and cheese potatoes covered for allotted time.
Uncover, top with cheese and bake grouse for another 15 minutes or until potatoes are good and tender.
